Church Constitution
Faith, Hope, & Love Fellowship Church Whereas we, being an incorporate body of people of like precious faith:
- Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life through His death and the power of His resurrection.
- Believe the Bible to be God’s word and the revelation of His will to man and accept it as our rule for faith and conduct.
- Believe Christian fellowship, mutual edification and evangelical effort, in the form of a local church, is God’s ordained order for His people.
- Believe the church is to assemble together for worship, fellowship, counsel, and instruction in the Word of God, and the work of the ministry.
- Believe the church should exercise the gifts and offices provided for in the New Testament to obtain the Christian goal, “Be ye therefore perfect even as your Father in heaven is perfect.”
- Believe God has called and anointed us to emphasize the fullness of the Gospel through the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Therefore, we have accepted and adopted the following Statement of Fundamental Truths and Constitution. We shall seek, by the grace of God, to be governed by the Constitution as set forth, and will also seek to teach and propagate the doctrines contained in the Statement of Fundamental Truths.
Statement of Beliefs
God
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three manifestations: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; Peter 1:2; Corinthians 13:14
Mankind
Mankind is made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme objects of God's creation. Although mankind has tremendous potential for good, people are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God, called sin; this attitude separates mankind from God. Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2
Eternity
Mankind was created to exist forever. They will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God, through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence. John 3:16; I John 2:25; 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is God, manifested in the flesh. In Him dwells the fullness of the Godhead in bodily form. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven's glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Salvation
Salvation is a gift from God to all people. Mankind can never make up for sin by self-improvement or by good works. Only by accepting Jesus Christ, as the perfect and ultimate sacrifice for our forgiveness, can a person be saved from sin's penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into their life by faith. Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6; 1:12 Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1
Water Baptism
Water Baptism is an act of obedience for the believer. It should be preceded by repentance, which simply means "change." It is turning from our sin and selfishness to serve the Lord. Water Baptism identifies the believer with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. As such, we believe in baptism in the name of Jesus Christ. It is a public testimony - the outward confession of an inward experience. In baptism, we stand before witnesses confessing our identification with the Lord. The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is God, manifested as the Spirit of Christ. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian should seek to live under His authority daily. Baptism of the Holy Spirit
The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a part of the conversion experience, which was promised by Jesus to His disciples. It is sometimes referred to as a baptism of fire, because on the day of Pentecost, when the first believers received the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, they saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. With each biblical account of Christian believers receiving the Holy Spirit, they began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Therefore, baptism of the Holy Spirit, as evidenced by speaking in tongues, is an experience that all believers should desire and seek. The Bible
The Bible is God's Word to all people, written by the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and for Christian living. All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. Mission Statement
"To give hope to the hopeless, to be friend to the friendless, to be Christ-like in word and deed, and to be a family to all."
